This was Leigh Diffey's last IndyCar Series broadcast for NBC Sports, having served as the coverage's lead commentator since the 2013 season. He did not call the following race in Toronto the next week in order to do final preparations for track events at the Paris Olympics, where he served as lead commentator. Following the Olympics, he replaced Rick Allen as NBC Sports' lead NASCAR Cup Series commentator, beginning with the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona on August 24. Kevin Lee would replace Diffey as lead IndyCar commentator for the remainder of the season. Diffey's final contribution to NBC Sports' IndyCar coverage would be doing a voiceover for a brief retrospective of it at the conclusion of the broadcast of the last event of the 2024 IndyCar season, the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix.
